Household Battery Collection Program

The battery collection program was established in April 1990 by the PCFAWC as a method of keeping inappropriate materials such as heavy metals (e.g. mercury and cadmium) out of the waste stream entering the Warren County Resource Recovery Facility and the District Landfill.

SEPARATE HOUSEHOLD BATTERIES FROM YOUR CURBSIDE TRASH!

Household batteries are collected in curbside recycling programs and drop-off depot recycling sites throughout Warren County.
Batteries should be placed in plastic baggies and kept away from children.
Batteries are collected because they should not be burned in an incinerator or land-filled and some batteries are recyclable.
Also, some rechargeable appliances should not be put into the trash because they contain nickel-cadmium batteries, which are not to be removed. When these appliances are worn out they should be disposed of on Household Hazardous Waste Cleanup Days.
We do not accept lead acid batteries. Contact Interstate Battery at 908-852-8030 for proper disposal.
Roughly 35,752 pounds of household batteries were collected in Warren County during 2007.
